"Boosts Immune Response and enhances Performance Levels"

The risk of injuries is a potential hazard for all sports and can occur in even the most novice athlete.

More and more athletes are taking control of their recovery and coming back stronger than ever using Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.

A Hyberbaric Oxygen Chamber can create an environment where cells can be more receptive to repair and recovery.

Vascoconstriction (temporary reduction of blood volume), may help to reduce inflammation.  However, with increased blood plasma oxygen levels in the athletes body there is an increase in oxygen in the body's tissues and muscle fibres, especially in regions of injury and swelling.  Decreased inflammation increases recovery rate allowing functional mechanisms to be effectively re-recruited and allowing the athlete to regain optimal performance quickly.

Proposed Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy healing mechanisms of neovascularisation (growth of new capillaries) and epithelialisation (regnerating tissue cells) provide the recovering athlete with a unique opportunity to recondition at a faster rate.

What is Hyperbaric Therapy?

Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a form of oxygen therapy that raises the levels of oxygen in the body's blood plasma.  Increased oxygen in the plasma leads to higher amounts of oxygen being delivered to the body's tissues, organs and brain.

The therapy allows additional amounts of oxygen to be dissolved into the blood plasma and enter the tissues directly.

Mild hyperbaric oxygen thereapy promotes relaxation, stimulates the body's healing process, increases stamina and endurance and also helps the body return to a state of balance and wellbeing.

Reasons for Oxygen Therapy

Some conditions that may result from a a hypoxic state include supressed and low immunity, increased occurrence of yeast and fungal infections.

The condition can manifest in the body's inability to resist infection and repair and recover effectively.  Food intolerances and general feeling of malaise can be attributed to areas of the body being hypoxic.  Stress related illness often manifests in a poorly oxygenated environment of the body.

Some reasons for mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy may also include skin allergies, chronic fatigue syndrome, circulatory problems, stress, headaches, eczema, psoriasis, sporting injuries and recovery, and it may be effective as an adjuvant therapy with clients dealing with sleep disorders.

Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a very effective treatment in helping to support and inscrease the rate of healing, reduction of swelling and inflammation after surgical and non invasive procedures, such as orthopaedic, plastic/reconstructive and cosmetic procedures.

The Treatment

It takes place inside a specially designed inflatable chamber that uses filtered ambient air with an additional oxygen concentrator to deliver oxygen to the body safely.

Because you will be fully clothed during the treatment, it is recommended that you wear loose, comfortable clothing.  The chamber looks smaller deflated and will be larger when it is fully pressurised.  The chamber inflates quickly and upon full inflation there will be enough room to sit upright or lie down comfortably.  After the inflation, the chamber will pressurise and this is a feeling similar to ascending or descending in a plane.  Once at full pressure, you just breathe normally.  You make take a book or magazine into the chamber, mobile phone or laptop, listen to music or simply sleep.

Each treatment lasts for 60 minutes and after the treatment, you may carry on with your day as normal.  You are able to eat and drink as the treatment finishes.  Occasional oxygen therapy treatments are recommended to ensure that oxygen levels remain at optimum.
